Practicing with scissors

The first graders were the first students to earn the right to use the scissors. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they used them. Their goal was to cut zig-zag, straight and wavy lines and most the students could do it.

The dotted paper has a Dr. Suess quote saying "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells". This paper was quite appropriate for the project. Although the first graders might not understand "nonsense" and "brain cells", the adults who read it from the artwork might appreciate it.
