Two Contests Coming up

Students in 5th-8th grade are invited to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. portrait (face) drawing contest. It is due on Friday before the end of the school day. I will be giving out prizes for most realistic, most creative, and most expressive for each grade. You can include words, his name, anything you want, but his face must take up most of the page. If you want to participate stop by the art room for paper. Below are examples of the students who have started their Martin Luther King Jr. portrait. Remember, MLK Day is on Monday, so we do not have school!

Bed Head

Upper Grades make some wild Bed Head! They used the lines of their name to make the look of hair. I was really impressed with their creativity, but I realized we need to practice drawing faces...There were many circle heads. Imagine if we had circle heads! We would be very funny looking.

Getting to Know Names

First Project was doing a project with their name. It is great way to get to know each others' names.

The lower grades practiced drawing lines by tracing around and around their name. There was a large variety of artwork considering!







The Upper Grades did bubble letters with a vanishing point.
