Owls, Houses, and Ashton

I have a lot of watercolor and bird collages to post. We have been very busy with birds...peacocks, cockatoos, penquins! The owls are just one of many. Here is a small preview.

I love the "at-home" drawings that everyone have given me this year! But, I need everyone to be patient with seeing them on the blog. I decided to post all of the drawings together at end of year. Ashton has given me, not only a few drawings, but a few entire drawing journals!! So these are just a preview of many more of Ashton's work to come!

Back to Drawing!! Grades 4-8

We are back in school! Our first project was decorating the cover to our sketchbook. This year's group colors are orange, purple and green. Every class had the same guidelines of wavy line in middle, box on the wavy line, sun by their name as well of a zig-zag line, spirals and other shapes. Even with the same guidelines, everyone's unique style shined through!!
On the back side they had option of free draw and writing their name in different styles. Here are some of my favorites:

Sketchbook Covers by Kiara B, Crystal, Marvelles and Tatyana

Sketchbook Covers by Yahzyah, Deja, and Lorraine

Sketchbook covers by Jevon, Kiara R, Brianna, Indiya

3rd-4th grade Contesters

I submitted student artwork to "Celebrating Art", a program that publishes student artwork. Click Here to learn more. Many Fernwood students were chosen to be contestants in the final competition. All they need to do is turn in their parent permission slip forms. I will find out who the winners are in August. I will be sure to update you. Good Luck to the Fernwood Contestants!

Landscape vs. Cityscapes

Landscape art is a natural scene such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, forests, or DESERTS! Cityscape art is scenery such as cities and towns. Both are usually in a wide view and include the sky.

Awesome Artists

Kenya did a Drug-Free Poster. There are awesome details, so make sure you click for a close-up view!
Kenmari earned a sketchbook last month for having the most stars in his class. I loved what he put on the cover "To only express my feelings." I also loved his awesome drawings he did inside. He is great with shading and those 3-d stars, wow! Awesome work Kenmari.

Kayla and Kori did these painting for a free paint. They turned out real fun.
