Celebrating Art Winners!!

The following student's artwork was chosen to be published in next year's "Celebrating Art" book.  The Matisse Rooms were a big hit with Celebrating Art, three of them were chosen.  Congrats!! Thanks for your hard work in art class.

Matisse's Colorful Rooms

Matisse= Patterns and Bright and Bold Colors.

After looking at some colorful rooms by Matisse (we saw some of his rooms up close and personal at the museum :-)) we made our own using paint and oil pastel. You can see, I also showed them one of favorite Matisse's, The goldfish!

Busy Busy Bees!!

I have not posted any artwork in a while. This is what I have been busy doing.
ART CLUB!! Thanks to my art club helpers who came Mon-Thurs (sometimes even Fridays, they couldn't get enough art club ;-)) to help out with the art room and work on their art projects.
Art Star Celebrities taking pictures on the Red Carpet at Fernwood's HipHop Award Ceremony. I blurred faces because some students have not turned in photo permission forms.
Mosaic Part One: Gluing all the pieces down, and getting hands dirty with Liquid Nails. For future reference, wear gloves while using liquid nails. But if you are like me and get liquid nails stuck on your hands, use nail polish remover to get it off. I discovered that after a couple days of dirty looking hands.

Mosaic Part Two: Grouting! Very fun to feel the mushhhhy grout. But if you are concerned about your carpet, you might want to lay down a blanket! Whoops.

Cherry Blossoms

Cherry Blossoms mark the beginning of spring, and the beginning of the school year in Japan. They are often seen in Japanese artwork, including manga and anime.

Photo Permission Slips

I finally got a list of students who turned in their photo permission slips. This means I can post pictures of everyone making artwork during class too. I can also link your artwork to your picture. Here are some students who always give 100% effort during art class. It shows, because their artwork has been chosen to be posted more than once and I only pick my favorite 5 or 6 pieces from each project to post. Of course, they also turned in their photo form.
